Why? They said something like "not enough history" but I have student loans, mortgage, car loan, and other ccs that have been open for 3+ years.

yes they do, unless the law very recently changed. they even have to tell you your score if you don't get the best apr they offer.

i guess if they didnt base their decision on score they might not have to?

That's not what the law says.

Edit: They only have to disclose the score if they calculated the score. Most bureaus don't calculate the score themselves - third parties or the creditor does - so they only have to disclose the factors negatively affecting your credit.

So they should have to provide some basis for the denial of credit.

LOL. Yeah, many have their own scoring models and don't even use FICO.

What is the OP on about?

i always thought that if you're denied credit, they're required to give you a free copy of your credit report, but not the score itself. am i totally wrong here?

I think it's if they use the score as a factor in denying credit. I could be wrong, but I usually get a FICO score if i don't get the best APR rate available.

If you are denied by a creditor then the bureaus must give you a copy of your credit report. The creditor only has to identify the bureau and the factors that went into their decision. If the bureau calculated the score then they must disclose the score.

Which card? It's probably a prole card and your fastidious credit performance will fuck up the expected profits.
