Are my s/o and I really cheap or are a lot of biglawyers terrible with money?
This is our finances profile:
Me: Junior biglaw salary; 85k debt; 60-70k savings.
S/O: 55k salary; no debt; 60k savings; parents have 10mm+ so willing to help us out if we needed it
Rent: 2k
Utilities/food per month: another 800-900
Example of friends in biglaw:
Friend 1: 6th year biglaw; 180k debt; 200k savings
Rent: 3200
Utilities, etc.: another 1000 per month
Friend 2: 6th year biglaw; 100k debt; 40k savings
Rent: 4000
Utilities: another 700 a month
Keep in mind these people are years ahead of me and should have more money saved up IMO.
Most people I know in biglaw do not have rich spouses or parents and spend a ton of money on wedding, travel, etc. (Although one of my friends has a really rich wife and therefore hasn't paid much of his loans down and just spends money, but that's fine.)
Are we super cheap or just more reasonable?

Cause they are my relatively close friends.
I just think they are awful with money, and I tell them that
Another friend spends 2k a month traveling (not kidding) but he has no loans.

A 6th year is not senior...
They still have a ton of debt
They all want out of biglaw, so I figure paying off your debt is the first step

Meaning they take home around 50k more than me
Yet they still have debt...
Probably because they blow 10k on each vacation they take per year, etc.
And this means they are good with money?

Most important line
Plus,
We never pay for our own travel during holidays, etc.
We didn't pay for our own moving costs and we didn't purchase any furniture for our apartment either
