the 55 yo would have prolly gone to the same prestige institutions had she been the age of the former due to those places not recruiting as much until the 1980s.

go with doc b.

It depends on what you are having done. If you are getting surgery or some procedure then you want an experienced person who has a good reputation. schools don't mean shit really. residency is more imp't than school but even that isn't as important as just going to a competent person.

FWIW, US News publishes med school rankings for 'research' and 'primary care'. A lot of DO schools are at the top of the primary care ranks.

nobody gives a shit about med school rankings bro. there are shit doctors who come out of HMS, and great ones who come out of the state TTT. there are a million places to look at reviews online.

Exactly. The only rankings that matter are "research" AKA how smart are these students.

Also primary care doctors are not really doctors - they are GED-holding orangutans who wear white in order to impersonate the KKK.

If they have the same specialty, honestly I would pick the one with the less prestigious pedigree because it means that person was more successful out of school because of having to fight against the "stain" of less prestige.

It's for this reason that I'll always opt for a DO over an MD, ceteris paribus. The DO will have overcome anti-DO flame to have achieved the MD's same position, meaning the MD did better on the MCAT and had a better undergrad GPA, but the DO probably outscored the MD on all the stuff that really matters to get an equally good residency/fellowship and position after residency/fellowship (COMLEX, step 1, step 2, step 3, impressed the attendings/recommenders to ignore the DO degree, whatever).
