everything immediately.

I'd rather just not have these clients. I kind of avoid them like the plague.

I've talked to other solobros that have a "last minute" rate that's 125% of their normal rate (or something like that).

Yeah because partners then go to associates and are like "i want this by yesterday and it needs to be extensive and impress the client, but by the way don't spend more than 2 hours on this."

lots of clients intentionally ask for shit at the last minute so firms cant rack up bills as much.

On a firm-levl, this works. It prevents endless rounds of nit picking edits by five different senior associates and partners. But for the bro who is actually doing the heavy lifting on the initial draft...let's just say the client isn't going to know enough to question whether you worked from 9 pm to 1 am or 9 pm to 4 am on that project.

hands on faggots who make 1000 edits to everything you do and want to talk on the phone all day then complain about the bill.

Many clients ought to be dropped when they comprise that 20% of a service provider's client base that accounts for 80% of the total consumption of the service provider's available support resources; i.e., the service provider should profile those clients that comprise the 80% of its client base that accounts for the consumption of only 20% of the service provider's available support resources, and design its marketing campaign to target only prospective clients that fit this profile moving forwards, or at least identify the essential attributes belonging to the "headache" clients and use this information to exclude their like as it continues to grow its client base.

Oh god, I've never finished a Malcom Gladwell book, but my post was made tongue in cheek in flooding a common sense insight with far too many words.

the fact that lawyers eagerly put up with these kinds of clients while doctors make their "clients" sit in a waiting room for 45 minutes, not giving a flying fuck about their time, overcharging them for shit they didn't ask for, and generally working whenever the fuck they want (not when clients need them) really tells you something about the oversupply of lawyers and how good doctors are at restricting supply

I don't really "eagerly put up with these kinds of clients"....if I get a client like this, I don't do much to try and keep them....although sometimes these clients will change. We had one client who was super cheap until he figured out how valuable we could be and his company got bigger...now he is one of the least cost sensitive clients we have.
