Tryna become a style bro but not there yet.

Wear em a couple times a week. I like em with fairly basic patterned shirts but I don't know how the clothing pedants look at it. I like shirts like this: http://www.ctshirts.com/mens-shirts/Sky-and-pink-grid-check-classic-fit-shirt?q=usddefault||sl026spk|||||4735,4780,||||||||

If you are willing to pay in the $90 a shirt range, better to go custom. I like these guys:

http://propercloth.com/

If you are in NYC, schedule a fitting and have them measure you. Will look a lot better than anything you can get OTR.

Thing about CT shirts is that they are perfectly good and cheap as fuck if you buy them on sale / with a code. Are they the high of fashion? Will they fit perfectly? Of course not, but they are a great value for the price.

I will check that out. I have been buying my shirts at BB which is horrible quality (three shirts literally ripped at the elbow) and they are between 90-120

I used to love BB. At some point around 5 years ago all of their stuff went to complete shit. My theory is that when they launched their outlet brand, they saw the margins on making low quality stuff, and they were like "OMG why not do this for the non-outlet brand too?" It's actually really sad.

Proper cloth is expensive (I'm sure there are cheaper MTM options) but no worse than what you are paying at BB and if you get your measurements right it'll look great. You can get your first shirt done and bring it in and they'll do another round based on how it looks for free.

i wear almost exclusively white and sometimes a blue shirt with reg cuffs. every time i go to the store to look for french cuff shirts, a lot of them are in weird ass patterns. not sure if that is normal for a clothmo bro to wear or not.

You are technically not supposed to wear french cuffs without a suit and tie. That being said, anyone who thinks less of you for violating this rule is a jackass.

I would avoid wearing a formal white shirt or blue shirt with cufflinks because it will look like you forgot your jacket.

but for different types of shirts which are not really suit-appropriate (pinks, purples, etc.) - I think it can work totally fine without a jacket.

Of course, you may indeed be thought lesser of by the styleforum.net bros in your office.

this is definitely one of those points where i respect the "only with a suit" point of view. I just happen to disagree and think you can pull off a look where cuff links are a less formal look and you don't need a jacket. Not for everyone though.

I wear loafers with a suit but only with the really fitted ones they are selling now. With the traditional cut ones I wear oxfords.

But I don't really think it matters and I don't know what I would wear formal loafers with if not a suit.
