Bros, solo here looking to pick up a few extra bucks however possible.

i've heard the only way to make money in SSDI is doing volume, but I'm good even making an extra 500-1k extra a month - that would pay the rent. What's the deal in terms of how long a case takes, fees, etc.? Also i heard that this is a federal practice(?) so can I do this in neighboring states i'm not admitted in??

the claimants get denied at the local SSA office, come to you, you'll request a hearing before an ALJ, and then wait a year before having the hearing, then another couple months before the ALJ issues his decision

the longer you have to wait for a decision, the more likely to get the max back pay award (you get paid from time of application in SSI and up to a year before that for DIB)

i am not sure about the licensing issue.

i know at the ALJ level, you dont even need to be an attorney to represent the claimants. these cases can get appealed up into the federal courts though.

i dont know anything about NY WC

re SSI vs. DIB, im not sure. many qualify for both concurrently bc of lack of income

I heard that occasionally you get the ones who have legit injuries and haven't even filed yet. Apparently if they've been injured for a few months you get some nice back pay.

heard that this is a good practice area as a supplement, just have to get all the briefs and read the tom bush book. once you know how to cross examine a vocational expert and paint your client's story you're good. however, there are a lot of waccos that call, so you have to cherry pick which clients you take.
