Bush's question could have been construed as many things, but unless there is some context that was omitted, I am inclined to believe it was a sincere gesture on the part of Bush.
With that in mind, Webb could have bit his tongue, swallowed his pride, and said something to the effect of "Mr. President, he is healthy, uninjured, and getting by, which is all a parent who has a kid fighting a war can ask for, but I would appreciate having a moment of your time to discuss the deployment of my son, and the rest of America's sons and daughters." It would have been very difficult for Bush to turn this down, and such is the way that dialogue across the aisle begins. Webb didn't do this. Instead, he acted like a hysterical faggot by trying to score a few cheap points with snark. Who would have guessed that a lib would eschew genuine dialogue for snark. |
