No. He's assuming he'll be slow when he returns but that regardless how slow, they'll at least give him 6 months.

I know a bro who took 12 weeks paternity leave but broke it up over the course of a year. So he was gone for 4 weeks, 4 weeks, 4 weeks. It was bizarre.

this is pretty common in gov jobs, husband and wife will take off alternating months, take turns being primary caregivers

what biglaw firm has 12 weeks of paternity if you aren't the primary caregiver?

everyone. 6 weeks paid, 6 weeks unpaid. Some with up to 10 weeks paid. Can' discriminate based on sex of parent.

doesn't sound right - at my firm at least, it is 4 weeks if you're the secondary caregiver and a shitload (I don't know how much, 16 maybe) if you are the primary caregiver. No discrimination on gender, but very rarely would a straight guy be the primary caregiver of a kid.

oh, unpaid...that doesn't really count.

definitely can discriminate based on who is the primary caregiver. that is why most firms give 18 weeks paid to that person.

I know of one that had 12 weeks paid for bros as recently as a couple of years ago. People actually took it too. Knew of a few that lateraled within a year of their return as well.

I know a guy who took 3 months paternity leave, came back on a Monday, and gave 2 weeks notice on Tuesday to go in-house. Firm was MAF about it. He claimed it was mere coincidence.
