Suddenly realized why lawyers overvalue credentials

The reason that Lawyer's care about credentials is because that's what lawyers do. They take concepts and concretize them until they are meaningless. If HLS+cravath meant you were taught to be a good lawyer it would not be credentialism it would be quality. So the natural outcome is to move the meannig of HLS and Cravath further and further away from what it was originally sought after to represent. |

basically law isn't all that hard so it's difficult for the market to distinguish the best from the worst and since there is an over-supply it's even more important not to be shit
of course this is insane because it ultimately leads people to take 300K in loans when they probably could be a great lawyer with 1/3 of that
