OK kratom masterman here. You should do a search for kratom - there was a 50+-post thread where a couple of us shared a bunch of info on the stuff. I've done kratom daily for about a year.
Describing it as a low dose of Percocet is pretty accurate. In fact, a lot of people use kratom as sort of an "opioid-lite" to get off an opioid addiction.
I've found that whether it's sedating or energizing has more to do with the strain than the quantity you take. There are a lot of different strains. Maeng Da, for example, is known as one of the more "motivating" strains. It can give you some sort of sedation and even mild euphoria, but not as much as with the "Bali" strain or my personal favorite, "Red Vein Kali." If you like how you feel on Maeng Da and can afford it, you should try some other strains to see whether you like them. Pretty pronounced differences among the strains.
As a weird side note, I bought seven different strains the first time I bought kratom. Of all of them, I hated Maeng Da and wouldn't touch it for a month. Then I decided to try it again and loved it.
Kratom doesn't really have an effect on my anxiety levels. If anything, I'd say in rare cases it can make me a tad bit more anxious - especially with the more stimulating strains like Maeng Da.
I've combined kratom with everything from advil to ketamine and never had an issue with anything. YMMV of course.
