Another thing boomers ruined...it used to be a solid career for middling lawyers and they turned into a race to the bottom with ID mills. Now the best ID litigators all open plaintiff shops and try to pwn their former cleint insurance companies

if it gives you training and the ability to open your own business, is it really "dead end"?

That's every lawyer I know's goal, actually. Don't pretend you'd be happier in biglaw than you would be where I am -- making plenty and working, on average, 30 hours a week, and genuinely helping people.

huh? i think most people who go to law school do so in part to have the option of being your own boss. i feel like law attracts uncreative and socially inept entrepreneurs.

i love when id lawyers come over to the plaintiff/claimant side and have absolutely no idea how to interact with the clients and then go bankrupt

How have you seen this? You work at a plaintiffs firm that hires stupid ID lawyers? That sounds like a shItty place to work.

I run a shitlaw plaintiff's firm and work against/hear of a TON of ID attorneys who go out and try to start their own thing and fail miserably. One of them just tried to do it in my city. I saw him at a bar a couple weeks ago and he legit looked homeless

yeah, I could see this. I knew one dood who was sucessful but his shtick was hiring paralegals who spoke haitian creole and korean (and splitting fees with them, lol) and having then deal with those clients...white dorky bro but he became the goto lawyer for those types...the korean cases were usually semi-legit, the haitians were obviously a bunch scams

Why is it scammy? I don't illegally split fees with my "paralegals" but I pay them well and they in turn have me hooked into the local Spanish community. I do a great job for their friends and family and in turn get more business.

Let me know how you would run your firm

No hate brother, and maybe you are the 1 in 20 who is doing it 100% by the books but usually in these situations lines end up getting crossed at some point.

I'm sure they do and I know a lot of crooked shitlawyers who make great money. However, I have known multiple who have ended up busted or out of business for it.

"Crooked" and "lines crossed"? Wtf?

Solicitation restrictions are unconstitutional bullshit that the scotus engaged in tortured reasoning to uphold. They don't have any moral weight so violating them isn't really an issue of right and wrong. They're just bullshit rules promulgated by a bullshit institution that prohibit conduct that would be considered perfectly acceptable for any other professional industry.

I must have more experience than you

edit: clients are the most poor, demanding, entitled, ungrateful pricks a lot of the time. ID lawyers who are used to dealing with business-types just can't make it work when they have to work "for" them

I doubt you have more experience than me (in P and def) but whatever. Plaintiffs just need to be worked on-which a lot of lawyers won't do because they are afraid they'll lose the client. In ID, you usually can't snow insurance adjusters. They value cases 24-7.

I recently started working with an experienced ID guy who has done nothing but for like 20 years. The lack of quality client interaction thing is spot on with him. He is so used to giving reports to claims adjusters that he seems to completely miss the human part of interacting with real clients (people and companies).
