Family friend (older woman) is selling her 2007 E class with high 90k miles. The car looks/feels like a brand new 2007 model if that makes sense. Can probably get it for $8K, since the dealer she was going to trade it into offered $7k and she almost took it.

It's going to be a MAINTENANCEPIG and at 90k miles you're going to have to worry about stuff like the water pump, serpentine belt, and brake discs and calipers.

That said, if you have the coin to pay full price for repairs this is a very good deal for a relatively nice car. Jump all over it for $7k if you have another $5k or so stashed for repairs every year.

Mercedeseseseses depreciate quickly for good reason: they aren't particularly reliable, and they're very expensive to repair.

Why else do you think there are Hondas from the same year that are now worth more?

But that doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't get the car. Just do so knowing that out will likely need some pricey repairs.

Which engine? Those are from a kinda bad era of Benzes during the Chrysler merger. If you can do work yourself or have a good indy mechanic (look for one that specializes in M-Bs) it can be somewhat reasonable to own. Might need to spend a lot now on deferred maintenance and wouldn't be surprised to see 1-2k a year after that for random things breaking.
