Got the 64 inch for $2499.

These are apparently really good, but I was torn between this, the 65 inch 4K for around the same price. Apparently the plasma has the better picture.

The 75 inch 4K was too expensive - $4500.

August 2014: In a 300 post thread, Earl complains that he is not saving any money. Pressed to explain, he confesses that he spends a lot of money.

December 2014: Earl gleefully unveils his latest $2500 purchase: an oversized TV he doesn't need that uses a technology that has been dropped by all major manufacturers.

plasma was dropped because its expensive to produce and consumers wanted lighter tvs to hang.

Plasmas pwn the shit out of LEDs, even full arrays w/ local dimming.

TBF, the real deal was the 51" F8500 for $997.

That's why, like the article above says, it makes sense to buy a cheap placeholder for $500. You can buy a lot of TV with that these days. I recently helped a relative buy one and was amazed at how cheap good TVs are.

why the fuck are you still buying plasmas, this from someone who bought 2 plasmas as his last 2 big tvs. you are not a visualphile. you wont notice the difference. lcds/leds are cheaper, lighter and overall better

the F8500 is regarded as the finest 1080P TV available.

LEDs are absolutely SPS compared with a high end plasma. It's extremely noticeable.

And at $997 (what amazon was charging a few days ago) for the 51" F8500, about the same price or cheaper than a high end full array LED.

although watching the Masters in for the few years it was broadcast in 3D made the $200 worth it
