At most law schools, standards have fallen so far that people who would have gotten in by the skin of their teeth a few years ago (full freight, in off the waiting list) are now setting or exceeding the 75th percentile numbers. What I am wondering is, what the hell is going to happen when these people graduate? Granted, many won't pass the bar, but there is already pressure building to make the bar exams easier.

As I understand it, one of the main things that the LSAT tests is abstract reasoning ability. Lots of people are getting into the legal pipeline without it. So what will happen to the judicial system? Not big law, but the garden variety individual and small business disputes. Will we see cases devolve into prole shouting matches amongst "lawyers" who don't understand basic legal concepts?

My thinking is that, as long as there are judges who meet the intelligence standard, they can serve as referees and keep some semblance of rationality in our system. But if the TTT grads get onto the bench, all bets are off.

You dont have to be Einstein to practice law> Anyone who passes the bar can figure shit out. A lot of being a lawyer is just being an anal fuck esp in BIGLAW where you literally can survive for years without really doing anything that brain intensive.

If anything maybe it will help cause you'll get ppl with balls who wont just become BIGLAW drones.

The problem is that the pressure is on to make the bar exam easier. The outcry from the deans of TTT law schools whose students got massacred on the exam is pretty strident. Do you honestly think that some dude who scores a 145 on the LSAT and snoozes through a TTT has the ability to practice law? At that level, there are questions about whether someone has abstract reasoning ability.

I dont really care. I dont think law is that hard a profession as long as you can read. Look at how shitty the avg lawyer is. The type of shit filed in state courts is fucking a disaster.

Lol brother. I got in off the WL a few years ago when LSATs were,t their peak. If I applied to my old LS today, my LSAT would be 5 points over median.
