Don't think so re CSM. Agree their offices are absolutely horrendous, especially for junior associates with the railroad-style office sharing. And in general the style of the office looks like a shitlaw firm trying to pretend it's a real law firm.
This knocked them down below DPW in my ranking, but they are still high because they have some of the best lawyers in NYC, and I'm told some of these are actually okay to work for. Obviously some are not, which makes going there a crapshoot in light of the "Cravath system." |

However, CSM is way over on 8th ave and 50th, a stone's throw away from Times Sq. That is a very TTT location (don't even get me started on Skadden's location). |

If you can't, just go to the V10 where you like the people the most as long as it is in the top tier of Chambers' rankings for your practice group. You are going to be spending a shit ton of time with those folks, so you should make sure that you can stand the culture. It really makes a big difference in your life, much more so than the negligible differences in exit options between STB and DPW. If you like the people equally at two firms, look at their client lists, as that could be your next job down the line.
Litigation: Go to Wachtell if you can. If not, pick a specialty and go to the V10 that has a good practice group in that area. If the people are shitty, lateral down to a firm that specializes in that area that has better people/hours. |

In some ways the others are better for networking because they have better PE relationships instead of a series one off super deals. Let me guess, you don't practice at this level do you? The other corporate groups really aren't noteworthy at all. You'll never see them with a noteworthy position in cap markets or finance tables. |
