how the fuck do you do this? I get bored after about 2-3 years. I don't hate anything about the job, but same ppl, office, setting, etc., now for 3 years...fuck

i can obviously leave, but prefer not to appear like a job hopper or to ruin what's a decent safe gig, and potentially end up a in shitty situation

i think getting a new job every 1-2 years is perfectly fine and does not constitute job hopping, per se

eh maybe this is just what i tell myself because ive been at a new job for 7 months and am already dying to move on...i think a steady stream of 1-offs may be bad, but a 1 year gig following a 3-4 year gig seems fine to me

Potentially fine, but you need to have an answer down cold explaining why you're looking after only a year and why you'll be at [interviewer's company] for the long-haul, WITHOUT trashing [current employer] or making yourself seem flaky. Good luck.

I work with some 180 dudes and get all kinds of fringe bennies. Admitteldy I've only been here a year but I don't see myself leaving ever. I just got back from a 4 day "customer appreciation" event in Florida and I'm going elk hunting in Montana on the company dime next month followed by another party in vegas. I don't even know how they afford to do this shit, but I would be retarded to give this up.

stupid fringe benefits like that are actually 180 for company morale. Good to be aware of that if you ever run a business. Plenty of places have cut that shit out since ite since it's an easy and obvious way to save $ but it makes work a lot shittier.

The problem you're describing isn't the job; it's boredom. Changing jobs won't help, because the novelty will wear off there too. You just need something to occupy your mind. If you're like most corporate bros, you fritter away at least an hour a day poasting and similar bullshit anyway. Use some of that time to work on your own thing-- like, learn French off duolingo, master a skill unrelated to your job through online learning, read a book about a topic you've always found interesting, work on that novel you've always had in the back of your head, whatever. You just need something for your brain to burn off its excess energy.

but what if u bill hours and every minute you dedicate to one of these side projects you know is just time and energy you should have been dedicating to billables?

Idk, I left the billable hour behind a while ago and now my in-house gig only cares about what I get done. Do you bill a legit 8 hours every day? If so, then I can see why you're thinking about leaving.

Way back before law school, I had job hopping on my resume, and it's death. Employers know that if you're leaving multiple jobs after 1-2 years, it's either because you are lazy and get bored easily or that you have some other major performance issue that is getting you pushed out the door as soon as people get to know you. Once you are in that boat, it becomes hard as fuck to get good jobs. You get one free pass, but two or more and it kills you.

most companies offer no pension, no chance of advancement, and little job security. expecting ppl to be loyal and dinging "job hoppers" is such boomer flame.
