Colleague in tiny overworked biglaw group leaving. Bail?

I have another offer in hand at a similar firm. Does anyone have any experience with leaving a small group at the same exact time? Might seem like kicking them when they are down but I plan to resign as well right after my buddy. Wondering if it's worth waiting a month to soften the blow. generally, fuck them with no emotion because they will do the same.
but if you actually care about these people or can imagine them being in a position to really help you or really hurt you down the line, then raise the issue and just be honest. let them know you'd already decided to leave and ask if an extra month will help them out, assuming you have the extra month to give.
they might not care at all; they might still be pissed you're leaving. they'll probably give you some credit for being a stand up guy, and in the worst case scenario they're not going to be any more pissed at you than they would have been if you'd just told them to pound sand in the first place. |

Funny enough, it is not easy to find a transactional associate at lower tier vault firms. We have looked for 6 months with no success, as v20s are handing out offers like candy. I actually think my firm is going to have to dig possibly into shitlaw to find someone. While I get that people say we are replaceable, I am telling you that I'm seeing a huge shortage of midlevels. I literally got offers at a couple much higher ranked firms after totally tanking the interview. Anyone with a pulse and a good resume is instantly hired.
