second of all, if i had indeed 'gotten biglaw,' i wouldnt have had the time to live life and develop new interest/pursuits/skills as I have in fact been able to do
also i cannot function with less than 7-8 hours of sleep, and ideally i need 9
law school was a mistake, but getting biglaw would have been doubling down on an error

It's brutal if you are making like $40k and someone you know is making $170k with bonus who sat right next to you in class and you know you were just as smart as them. They pay me better than an equivalent graduate degree and the JD has been a useful credential on a substantive and perceptual level. I didn't take on debt for the degree so the opportunity cost was my lost income. Was law school worth it? No. There was no graduate degree for someone like me (no STEM option, no M7 MBA, no finance) and almost certainly no career path without a bunch of luck that would get me to 100K+ with benefits and a job that lets me look a man in the eye without being embarrassed.
So in that respect, I am glad I went to law school while still knowing it was not, and rarely is, worth it.
