remember when Trent Lott spoke at Strom Thurmond's bday?

“When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn’t have had all these problems over the years, either”
The article I read the day after mentioned that people audibly gasped when he said that. Made me wonder what a room full of people celebrating this man's birthday were expecting and how they could possibly be shocked. |
