Paralegal just stormed out of my office on verge of tears

Date: April 24th, 2015 2:00 PM Author: Canary digit ratio windowlicker She's among the worst people I've ever worked with. Incompetent and extremely defensive/sensitive. I needed her to put together a signature page packet. Knowing that this would prove difficult I painstakingly spelled out the directions, made a table with the doc ids and language I wanted referencing the docs in the footers on those pages. There are about 40 docs total. Over 24 hours later she's nowhere near being finished and when I look at what she has done it's ridiculous, a total mess. so I get another paralegal involved who does know what she's doing to take over so I could get this stuff out to the client who asked for it yesterday. She then asks to see me in my office, stops by, shuts the door and says she wishes I would have just explained to her what I wanted rather than get the other paralegal involved. I told her that I did explain what I wanted but that she didn't listen and that she has a problem listening. She acted like I had insulted her mother - said I can't believe you're saying that to me. Then opened the door and stormed out.
Now all of the paralegals and secretaries on the floor are walking by more often than normal and peaking into my office; not sure what they're expecting to see. |

I fix their mistakes all the time and do stuff that they should be doing regularly. Rarely give anyone shit and when I do I just tell them about the screw up without harping on them for it. This time I got particularly pissed because (1) I spent over an hour of my own time setting the project up for her in a way that a five year old could understand it, and (2) she has a tendency to not let me finish what I'm saying; cutting me off like, I know I know. So to have the nerve to come in and try to criticize me for having someone come in to help out because she was incapable of doing the work was just ridiculous.
