Order fajitas at the dinner interview, then don't flinch or try to hide when the waiter brings them out to you. Guaranteed offer.

I'd email your stuff to the firms directly with hardcopy to follow. Just go crazy about your roots to AZ in the cover letter. Don't say it's your fiancee's family, just strong familial connection or something like that.

Thanks dude. I've been getting interviews through applying directly to practice group heads or managing partners, but I haven't been getting interviews using recruiters. Applying directly seems to be tcr. I like your idea of sending dat HARD COPY. I've been mentioning fiancee's family in cover letters, so I think I will make it more vague and just say "familial connections"

I disagree with this. I would say it's your fiancé and that you are going to settle down in AZ and raise a family there. That's the strongest possible connection there is. Why obscure it with some vague "familial" thing, which could mean a dead uncle?

But I do agree that sending cover letter and resume directly to firms is the way to go.

Ty brother. I see your point - if someone had strong connections they would be specific instead of saying "familial connections," so maybe I should just be straight up about my connections like I have been so far

contact the state legislature directly. set up meetings if you can with various agency and department heads. sometimes you can offer to pay certain state taxes in advance.

Year/practice area? There are a lot of openings at Phoenix firms right now. If you have 3+ years in CA corp BigLaw you can write your ticket to any firm. Still in decent shape if you're a shitigator but will depend more on the quality of firm you're coming from.

There are only a few local recruiters worth a shit. If you have a throwaway email I can send you info.

Thanks brother! I'm a 4th year at a firm with about 50 lawyers. I started out doing shitigation but I'm now doing mostly environmental, public agency, and water stuff. Been seeing a lot of shitigation openings but not much enviro. I'm flying out there next week for a couple screener interviews

I took and passed the AZ bar and I hope that'll help me out

My throwaway email is alphamalestrutting@gmail.com. Tips on recruiters, firms, etc. would be extremely appreciated. Tyty

I am looking to [relocate/move] to Arizona in large part because I have immediate family in the Phoenix area.

*make up an immediate family, e.g., sister, brother, etc.*

Alternatively, you can also add this language:

"I travel regularly to [Phoenix/Arizona] and would welcome the opportunity to discuss [insert position] in person."

*You have to be willing to fly out there on your own dime though. I did this when I was trying to relocate to a different city. I was able to schedule 2 biglaw interviews, but went inhouse before I received any offer.*

Thanks brother. My fiancée's family lives there so Ive just been sayin that. I think telling them you're in town is credited. I've gotten a few interviews that way so far. I just hope my firm doesnt catch on based on all the days I take off
