Here is what didn't work:
I have a full time job and two kids, well started with one added another in 2014.
Bought Barbri books off eBay for self study July 2013 Failed
Got Barmax for MBEs and Flemings PT course Feb 2014 failed
Added baressays for July 2014 failed
Hired a private tutor for $5k who made me go back to reading outlines, writing essays and a working new set of MBEs for February 2015 failed
I'm out of ideas and money and hope.

I guess "it" doesn't refer to the CA bar?
but seriously, how many times has it been? maybe try a different state?

Were you passing on practice tests? Maybe you should take an actual barbri course?
Why are you taking if if you already have a job?

Having gotten my scores back 4 times now, I'll say there is a touch of random to why one essay gets a 60 and not a 65. My best scores have always been on essays I was most comfortable with thinking about in plain language rather than memorized rules of law. Ymmv.
PTs - I practiced them the way I learned on the Flemings tutorial and it's worked decently. I went from 50/55 my first attempt to 60/65/70s. I don't think anyone should expect to pass with less than 60/65 on PTs but that's just more speculation.
MBEs - repetition. If you do enough the answers become much more obvious. In all honesty I didn't do enough civ pro practice MBEs or civ pro review and my score reflects that.
There are so many moving parts and obviously being strong on all parts gets you a pass but for me, because essays are so effing subjective, I am going to prioritize on getting a way higher MBE score and getting even more comfortable with PTs. 4 points yo lol.
And thank you for the condolences. They are much appreciated.

Kathleen Sullivan, former dean of Stanford Law School and a former Harvard Law School professor, is considered such a legal superstar that news of her flunking the California bar last year made the front page of the Wall Street Journal. Sullivan remains a full law professor at Stanford and is associated with a private law firm.
Although Sullivan is licensed to practice law in New York and Massachusetts, the California Supreme Court last month removed her from litigation over a $500-million licensing dispute because she was not a member of the state bar.
The constitutional scholar, who has argued several times before the U.S. Supreme Court, wasn't eager to talk about the setback, declining to say how much she studied for the bar or how close she came to passing. "That is all past," Sullivan said.
She took a special bar exam for lawyers licensed elsewhere that is shorter than the regular test. Only 28% achieved passing scores.
This time, Sullivan is not taking any chances. She said she has immersed herself in study for the test today.
"I am eating, drinking and sleeping the bar," said the scholar, who is frequently cited as a potential U.S. Supreme Court nominee.
