Massive amounts of alcohol hazing. Not allowed to smoke weed in the house as a pledge. Can not walk on the grass on the front lawn as a pledge. Must use the back entrance, never the front door. Memorize inane fraternity shit like the name of the brother who was student senate president pro temp in the fall term of 1967.
Some bows and toes and other endurance exercise like holding a brick above head for an hour to signify "holding up your portion of the house."
All in all not that bad and worth it for the 3.5 years that followed. |

the thing about ethnic greek orgs (black and latino, not asian, they trend more like white orgs) is that they are trying to convey a race history/lesson/rite of passage so beyond the physical punishment, you're normally uncovering "the legend" of the org which is normally ethnically based. at a young age, it's impressionable. it's the main reason why ethnic greek dudes tend to be friends forever type deal. you meet all the old guys who are like "I pledged in the 1960s and my line brothers and sands still hang out". |
