Clarksdale attorney shot and killed during deposition
CLARKSDALE, Miss. — A Clarksdale attorney was shot and killed in his downtown office Friday evening.
Police said the victim Ellis Pittman was in the middle of a deposition when 33-year-old Recardo Frazier snapped and shot him.
Pittman was taken to a Clarksdale hospital, and died just before he was supposed to be airlifted to Memphis.
Police said Frazier turned himself in without incident in connection with that shooting.
More information is expected to be released once the suspect is officially charged.
Employee Jennifer Harris said she was there when her boss was shot and killed.
“It feels surreal right now. It doesn’t seem like it should be happening to us at this moment,” said Harris. “I really can’t even describe it.”
Mayor Bill Luckett was also in the office when it happened, but wouldn’t say what he actually saw.
“I feel like I have my nerves a little frayed still from being so close to it,” he said.
Pittman was a husband, father, and a county prosecutor.
His loved ones remembered him for his warm and loving spirit.
State investigators are now helping with the case.
