just do take a stroll down any outdoor mall or downtown in any major metro-politican city, and you will see white people with a (fiction) book on their hand. Very rarely do you see that among non-whites.

and this was true even when i was in elementary school, high school, and in college. white people just love their fiction!

raw-cognitive intellectual horsepower cannot explain this because Asians don't really like reading fiction. The asian kids who I went to school with read sparknotes.

It's the truth. I've yet to see a black buy anything in a book store (maybe they just kindle or iPad it, I don't know). Any test prep class is disproportionate Jew/Asian. This leaves whites reading Game of Thrones, etc.

Before Jacy had a chance to even take a step inside the shower stall, Rich was on her. He knew she loved it when he just “took” it. All he needed was a slight cue from her that she was interested, and it was on. He pushed her into the shower stall and shut it closed behind them. He knew that she was going to be pissed about getting her hair wet, but she would get over it after one good bang-out. He bent her over towards the back of the stall and told her to grab the ledge. She protested weakly, but did as she was told.

Fiction is cool as a kid, let's you escape the banalities of school, etc. As an adult you realize most fiction is a farce and a cheap caricature of life. Only women and dumbs who think by just "reading" makes you clever read fiction as an adult (for pleasure). When you get old you are more accepting of the fable like nature and retreat into fantasy of fiction.

Ppl who read trashy fiction but think they are smart because they read sophmoric bullshit are the worst

the stories people tell about themselves are more telling of their morality, history and motivations than non-fiction can get at.

Posters here are dumber than dirt, so I dispute that suggestion. I mean most people are really profoundly stupid, so it's hard to imagine many of them struggling to get past the first few pages. But irregardless, they ingest a shitton of "fiction" from their movies and tv shows.

When most people say non-fiction, they mean (1) dumb presidential biographies (2) other dumb biographies or (3) low-level reading like freakonomics.

And they are so god damn pretentious about it.

Any actually good, difficult fiction book will make you think far more and actually teaches new words by using ones you don't already know (ones I've read recently are The Magic Mountain, Darkmans, and The Philosopher's Pupil) (These are all normal fiction books, not fantasy)
