Overall, nice jeans a casual shirt. Both fit well. Some form of traditional leather shoe with the color matching the outfit.

New York --> Depends on the bar. I can go from artsy hipster to east coast douchey prep to Lawyer happy hours very easily.
I think you're best best is nice jeans, nice traditional leather shoes of any style that is not too flashy and that matches your coloring, and a well fitted casual button down. It's the most flexible. |

During the summer I lean more toward pastel colors, in the winter more plaid patterns. When I was younger, I would just wear anything that wasn't egregiously big or small, but more recently I have been paying attention to finding the best fitting shirts. I want to maximize the effect of my physique, so I look for shirts that aren't tight but aren't so baggy that they look like I am wearing a tent. I have gone through so much to attain and keep the v-shaped torso that chicks love, so I want to get a lot of mileage out of it.
I usually wear khakis or jeans in the winter, but recently I have been increasing my collection of preppy, brightly colored shorts (Madras, lime green, etc.) Boat shoes almost always.
I also try not to think too much about it, since guys look bad if they look like their choice of clothing involved too much effort. Nevertheless, I feel that, in terms of using clothes to attract chicks, I come out far ahead of the average dude who just grabs something clean and rolls out. |
