Yes. Right now they have a two-for-one special on idiots. They're out of white, though - they only come in brown and black.

No way. You'd just reset. I could see it helping if you went in-house and wanted to swing to a business role but you should take a night program.

I've always been of the opinion that an MBA is for those who just aren't talented enough to achieve what they need to achieve on their on. The true top business minds and finance geniuses don't need an additional degree to go on to make millions.

Many people on here say how PE/VC firms require that one get an MBA, but I'm pretty sure that's bullshit. If you're an absolute stud who can bring in millions for the firm, I highly doubt they'll be pushing you out the door to get an MBA.

If you're an engineer and you're tired of being an engineer and you want to move into management at Siemens or wherever it is you happen to be an engineer, then go get MBA.

But that still pertains to what I said. If you truly need an MBA to move into management, you clearly haven't demonstrated to anyone that you can do that without additional business education.

Companies don't require additional education for those who have already demonstrated that they are truly unique talents who are ready to do great things for the company right now.

Okay, but that ultimately just means one's not ready and needs more schooling.

Not needing an MBA only applies to the very top business minds who have demonstrated that they can contribute in a major way right now. If one needs more schooling, they aren't in that category.

this is basically right but the "true top business minds and finance geniuses" are pretty much the top 1% of the workforce (if that).

most people getting MBAs just want to switch industries/roles/functions, get some additional credibility, and learn some more skills. even at top programs, most MBAs aren't expecting to become millionaire ballers.

When your employer pays for it. I've gotten some pretty generous tuition reimbursement from my last two employers.

But but butt... Top undergrad BA (Swarthmore, Bowdoin) --> two-year stint at Salomon Brothers --> top tier MBA (Wharton, Dartmouth) --> Wall Street Masterman!

::sigh:: My 80's dream is truly, completely dead.
