Do you guys have days where you can't even pull 85% of your max? Any idea what causes it and how to avoid it?

yes. dl is highly variable and i gas quickly after like 5 reps of 425 even though i max around 600.

sometimes im too tired to do 475 for more than 1 and my max varies. just something you deal with. dont work out when youre tired, sore or on an empty stomach if you dont want to be disappointed.

Deadlift is probably the most variable lift for me. Although actually 15% drop is pretty dam high. Id have to be pretty fucked up for that to happen.

Watch your volume. Your should only try your 1RM every two weeks or so. If you're doing it right, it destroys your nervous system.

Mix it up with the sumo. Pull is shorter.

That's fine. You can do heavy doubles and singles, but take off the next day. Depends on how new you are. Weird thing is, more experienced lifters need to take more time off in between a 1RM because experienced lifters can engage more of their nervous system and so need to rest it more. Your CNS burns out before muscles.

I drank one beer too many last night and was also awakened a few times throughout that night. I wasn't in top form today.

why do you need to max out so often?

I just pull 80% of max for 3 reps as my dead lift work out (after warming up)

Trying to bump myself higher with no real strategy. I've plateaued after two years from a dead start and am freaking out.
