I'm a dude with a spare bedroom and an absentee landlord, and I was thinking about it, but not sure how I can compete with people renting out whole units |

Date: September 15th, 2015 11:27 PM Author: mint codepig I live in a central part of a large city. Location is everything. If you live in a good location I would definitely look into renting your spare bedroom. If big city, your bedroom in your place should rent for like $75, 20-30 nights a month.
The whole unit will go for like $140+. Your market will be college kids, or cheapos. There will be a market there. You will make money, and be surprised how easily/fun it is. |

All the condos in my city have crazy HOA rules and also crazy HOA fees as well. HOA fee plus mortgage would basically be more than rent on an apartment would be.
Your right though, I should do this because I was throwing away the rent on a apartment when renting it out. Pretty tight on money though. |

How would you ever expect to enforce something like this? In DC, airbnb collects a 15% surcharge on every reservation and gives it to DC. Less than 1% of the housing is airbnb. Also, there are other competing sites that work too. |
