Not exactly the same thing, but deer have been used by the military for years; they're quite trainable, at least for reconnaissance / scouting applications.

my neighborhood used to have several pet key deer that would hang around by the bus stop when the kids went to school to keep them safe and they would walk around with us during halloween. other kinds of deer are not domesticated

last year, when i was in Nara (near Osaka), i fed wild deer out of my hand and pet them. they weren't living in any kind of enclosure or handled by anyone. deer roam around in Nara and they're not afraid of people
