A long fucking time these days because there's so few kids to divide it among. The biggest obstacle actually would be the prospect of the blood line ending due to no kid havers.

is the following legal?

establish a trust that has a limit of 4% per year in annual payouts to descendants

and have it invested mostly in various stock indexes of the top 10 economies around the world.

the fund will likely grow every year, despite paying out 40 million+ per year for starters.

also make it so that a bunch of people are easily disinherited. for example, your descendants need to get a graduate degree before they get anything (although the trust will pay for the tuition and barebones living expenses until you get the graduate degree).

invalids (disabled, mentally ill, etc.) can receive a middle class stipend of whatever the median household salary is if their guardians agree to sterilization.

thus, complete fuckups and retards will constitute a near zero drain on the fund. any descendants with a modicum of ambition and intelligence will get millions per year.

the money will last to the point until money no longer means anything.

if no one is left to inherit, it all goes to scholarship

most states have effectively ended RAP and just make it so that you get some set amount of time before control must end, usually super fucking long, like 1000 yrs.

trust gets around rule of perpetuities if at least one beneficiary is named up front.

i put the retard/mental illness clause in there to prevent this trust from being a huge subsidy for idiocy. letting them fuck and create a bunch of wards wouldn't break the trust as the payout is 4% fixed no matter what. it would just create more descendants and lower everyone's payout

The economics aren't too hard. It's the law and politics that's hard. Will future taxes get it? Will trust law change? Political revolution?

Forever, assuming you're talking liquid, and assuming we're not dealing with political upheaval or your family office stealing everything.

$1 billion in a dynasty trust (lasts forever in states without rule against perpetuity) invested only in incredibly conservative assets (treasuries), blue chip stocks, and income producing real estate, could probably throw off 5% per year consistently after paying your family office. That's $50 million a year in revenue initially. Your direct descendants can live off of 50% of that and the other 50% can be reinvested through the family office per the trust. You'd never touch the original $1 billion assets.

you could just appoint a trustee who has absolute discretion to invest and select beneficiaries. but, he must publish list of beneficiaries and the beneficiaries must give him a vote of confidence each year. at all times, two contingency trustees must be listed and they must also be approved by prior year's beneficiaries.

are subsequent generations of offspring hard working and humble people who believe in building things for their successors because that's what makes civilization great?

or are they porcine retards who live off a trust fund while banging third world hookers and chugging whiskey cokes in airport lounges?

Have it all go to the strongest in each generation. That will make it survive more generations. None of this per stirpes bs.
