i could tell they did everything in their power to appeal to the widest possible audience. hence the chinese subplot. also the smart black dude. as soon as the humor started i realized what a sps movie this was going to be. it was dorky, too. disgusting. wtf was up with all the dork shit? i hated the movie. i think ridley scott got fed up with failing at the box office and said to himself, you cretins want a hit, ill fucking give you all a hit, i can do a by the numbers formulaic movie with the best of them...and thats what we got.

it was very bland. is that what the average moviegoer craves these days? same thing with jurassic world, just so bland and uninteresting.

fucking critics too pussy to call it out. ive noticed with lower budget art house films or whatever you want to call it, they will review them harshly if they arent up to snuff, but if a blockbuster is even barely tolerable it will get good reviews across the board. kinda fishy, dont you think?

oh shit, you are right! i got a whiff of that millennial vibe from it. geek stuff, especially. and no biggie attitude about life and death matters, like everything will turn out fine - but of course taking it seriously for damon, it was more about how the movie presented it -- very cheery and nonchalant. thats why it was so comedic all throughout. something was eerily no biggie about it all. i cant put my finger exactly on what, but you are on to SOMETHING here.
