Why does Apple have such a consistently low p/e?

Is the market worried about the eventual post-Jobs loss of 'it' factor?

IDK Tim Cook seems to be keeping it together pretty good.

no idea, I'm not an investor masterman. I'm just looking for a quick 10-20% come up and this is the best bet in a while.

Investment Masterman = someone who does the research and invest.

Me = someone who thinks its a good bet Apple will be at 110-120 within 12-24 months but has done no research.

Because how much bigger can it realistically get? It's one of the biggest companies in the world already. It has pretty much maxed out its growth, and consumer electronics is a fickle industry. It's unlikely it stays this large for 10+ years.

apple spends about $150-$250 to manufacture an iphone, which it then sells for $600-$700. even worse, the iphone has close substitutes that are much cheaper. because the device industry refreshes very quickly and has a lot of aggressive players, investors worry about a sudden decline (see blackberry, which once had what was thought to be a near-unassailable position in enterprise devices).

more recently, marginal growth has come from china. china looks fucked. so investors worry about that, too.

the sale of index funds was ex ante a terrible idea for the following reasons:

1) massive underdiversification; there is no way he knew enough about aapl to justify a 100% stake under the kelly criterion

2) sudden move from index funds to a single stock

even if it had worked out, it would be luck, not skill
