how did you know they were in there, where exactly were they, and how did you get them out?
I think I've had nasty breath for a couple months now and as a longtime reader of The Most Prestigious Tonsilith Discussion Board in the World, I am concerned

Since I had tonsillitis a lot as a kid I have naturally cryptic tonsils - so I am often sensitive to the presence of tonsil stones
You typically feel like you have something caught in your throat, or unusually full feeling. Sometimes mild throat pain, and you get a horrible smell rising through your nostrils randomly
If you look in the mirror and use a flashlight you can see them if you move your tonsils around.
Depending on how big they are and where they are located you can get them out using a finger, q tip, tweezers or a waterpik to flush out the area, also inner suction or wretching will sometimes dislodge them.
This recent bout I didn't think o had any but the smell was there, so poking around with tweezers revealed some hidden ones that were both big and lodged in firmly. I had to use tweezers and my finger to manually jostle them, then gargled and used inner suction to get them out. Really freed up some real estate and now don't have that horrible smell (and probably breath)

Hate those things. I haven't had any significant ones in a while though TBH. My recent lack of them might be due to a change in diet. Not sure though.

protip (and not just for tonsils): the tool you want to use is a "curette" (basically a stick with a metal loop on the end) where the loop is narrow. then you can use a flashlight to guide the loop and scoop out the tonsil pits.
a wider loop is used for scraping wax out of the ear canals.
you can make a narrow-loop curette by taking a paperclip and folding it over so that the bend forms the loop, twisting the "legs" a bit at the top to lock the loop in place, then using pliers to make the loop suitably narrow.
then sterilize it before putting it in your mouth.
