Discounting some of the technological descriptions it really captures all of the issues we face as a result of automation despite being written in the 50's. It's even got the educational-industrial complex and rampant credentialism down pat (the main character's real estate agent has a PHD in real estate sales and wrote the longest dissertation on the topic ever, lol!). Higher interest rates = more demand for money from banks = bank deposits pay savers a higher rate.
It also makes the price of capital good producing things lower.
The past 10 years of boomer induced low interest rates are nothing but a generational genocidal campaign that they almost won against younger generations. |
