I need to qualify for a HAM radio license sometime during the next couple of months, and I am wondering if this is something I can pass after cramming for a couple hours hopped up on adderal.

it's not hard. i passed several in highschool as part of a single-semester "communications" course.

note that i couldn't really tell you much about the ham scene anymore, since i didn't bother to actually follow up by getting a radio.

I don't plan on joining the HAM radio scene. I need to instal a portable HAM radio in my vehicle as a condition to participating in an overland event later this year. This is solely for the purpose of communicating with people in other vehicles.

Yes and have hosted several classes while having only a cursory understanding of the subject matter. Just study the rest questions. It's only 100 they have to chose from. Very simple to get these down. Get an app and blow through them while waiting in line etc.

I did in high school for extra credit. Easy if you study the questions ahead of time

If I spend two hours studying the questions, how likely will I pass? Assume I am excellent at multiple choice tests.

lol

I need to stop psyching myself out about shit like this. I built the test up in my head as being very difficult, which was stupid. I know that borderline retard adults take and pass the test all the time. Of course it is going to be a joke.

It could be difficult you were actually trying to fully understand the concepts, depending on your background. But no, just memorizing 100 multiple choice is not very difficult. Don't bother with the prep book.

Yes. I believe there are three certifications, with each allowing lawful access to more spectrum.

There has been a boon in portable HAM radios in recent years. They are replacing traditional CB radios since they have much better reception and reliability. This was brought on by the introduction of several inexpensive Chinese HAM radios, such as this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MAULSOK?psc=1

Yes Cr. Most of the truckers pirate too, having no call sign and swear nonstop. Those little baofengs are impressive for the price. They also let you program them to broadcast on frs or gmrs.
