Look at Tiger Woods' wear mark on his 8-iron. It is amazing.

Don't know what when this picture is from, but that's basically like a machine.

180. most tour players' irons used to look like that though back before cavity backs allowed lesser ball strikers to compete.

i had a 6 iron that had a wear mark almost identical to the upper left. i hit that club into a net for about an hour every day for 3 years. anyone who has a mark like that on all they're clubs practices an insane amount

Ur dumb. There are no "lesser ball strikers" on the pga tour. Every single player has impact zones like that.

lol. exactly. pga'ers aren't scraping it around. their misses are minute face and/or path issues, not contact issues. pretty much any quality amateur has a similar wear pattern on their short irons.

lol no. if you think theyre arent different tiers of ball strikers on tour you havent seen them in person.

cavity backs help a ton of those guys out. i remember specifically michael thompson saying a few years ago he doest exactly hit the sweet spot every time. he's a tour winner and nearly won a US Open. there are plenty of dudes like that

ok guy talking out of his ass. by "not hitting the sweat spot" every time it means his impact zone probably is like 1mm wider than tiger's. you can't not hit your irons very very very consistently and make it on tour.

so what if the difference doesnt seem like much to the average person.

point is half the tour wouldnt be able to compete with the top ball strikers if they were playing persimmon and blades like they used to. makes tiger's accomplishments even more impressive even if he's a massively weird faggot

lol if you dont believe modern technology has tilted the playing field and thus puts more emphasis on putting(often streaky) and short game skill over ball striking

Have you ever gamed blades? they are infinitely harder to hit than cavity backs if anything because slight mishits cause drastic changes in distance.

I went from cavity backs to mizuno blades and went from a 10 handicap to shooting 90s.

Wrong faggot. How is this even debatable? There is a HUGE disparity in professional ball striking. No different than short game.

The disparity would not be evident from a naked eye look at the wear marks on their 8 irons.

some guys are in the top 0.0001% and others are in the 0.00001%. i guess that's something.

no one on tour would have an impact pattern much wider than the OP's pic.
