I tried doing that but when I send docs to other lawyers at my firm they open them and the font reverts to their normal.

This issue keeps me from using styles for headings, etc., as well.

Not a computermo but the Word programming is just SPS. I'm guessing it consists of shitty fixes in code that have been layered over one another for like 20+ years. There are so many times where it does something that makes no sense at all. Having gotten used to newer programming in other apps/products that are fairly intuitive it really makes me realize what a pile of shit word is.

Garamond is the Lamborghini of fonts. Objectively very nice, but its prestige is mitigated by the fact that it's the one that all the proles consider fancy.

Go with TNR. Just like most old-money WASPs drive Audis or less, truly classy legal professionals use TNR in their 9-page screechy meet-and-confer letters arguing over the responsiveness of production to Common RFP #19a.

Contrary to commonsense, a handwritten pro se complaint is often worth more than if the exact same words were typeset. The type of person who handwrites his complaint is the type of person who will pursue his (and it has never in the history of Law, going back to Hammurabi's Code, been a "her") case to the end of the earth.

The worst is when I cut a portion of a document in Times New Roman and attempt to post it in another document written in Times New Roman and it ends up fucking up the formatting in the new doc. Part of it is now in calibri and single spaced, etc.

I'm not but why would it fuck up formatting if the first doc is double spaced TNR 12 and the second doc is double spaced TNR 12. I shouldn't have to fuck around with a merge formatting option if the program is designed well and intuitive.

the default LaTeX font is prestigious, despite the name of the document prep system 'LaTeX' being something that was named by a boi in MeSH shorts

Calibri is actually a lot easier to read on the screen. In a world where people rarely read stuff in print most documents should probably be drafted in calibri

I was thinking this. I am the only partner in my office who knows how to do styles, tables of contents/authorities, etc.

Everyone else sends their SPS work to a paralegal who bills a full day to make it court-ready, or an associate who just fucks it up even worse.
