just do "pre-law"

Date: May 22nd, 2016 10:38 PM Author: Multi-colored rough-skinned church mother I've been teaching LSAT prep for extra $$$ and it's pretty amazing how worthless pre-law is. All my students go to a school where being a member of the pre-law org gives them access to free practice LSAT administrations (only one student has actually done this) and none of them have been chased out of pre-law by the sort of gauntlets you see in pre-med programs in terms of passing fresh bio/chem/physics courses.
All of them are paying thousands to take a course to prepare them to take an exam that they are not prepared to excel at, all so they can attend schools in, at best, the top 100. At no point has their pre-law org made them take the LSAT and sat them down and said, "Maybe this isn't the career for you."
It makes you feel pretty dirty to be part of the fraudlies scheme-- obviously I'm not allowed to tell my students "lol seek another career", because my company would rather hopefully sell them additional services like tutoring or admissions counseling.
oh and my students are passive millennials who are more terrified of sounding wrong in front of me and the class than shitting the bed on this test their parents have paid over $100 to take and thousands to prep for. makes me glad I studied for the LSAT on my own. |

Luckily I have 4 more semesters to improve it and I can take more classes so they'll weigh more but I'm not going to get into a T14 with scholarship or anything like that. |

I just do the pre law thing since it technically counts as a leadership position but I doubt non-LS people/jobs give a shit about it.
Did you ever practice law/plan to or do you just do LSAT prep? |
