Going with the GF (been together for almost a year) in August for a wedding. Were staying at the Aria. I'm not much of a foodie but she is. Wanted to treat her to someplace nice as a surprise. My only fear is that my palate is not sophisticated so I might blow $200 on a meal that I really hate. A friend told me about Joel Robuchan at the MGM. Any other places I should consider? perhaps ones I might even enjoy>

Let your girl get settled in robuchon then run down to the Nathans in the food court for a couple dogs. It's Vegas so the restaurant will be cool with it.

whenever i'm in vegas, i tend to prefer sushi and steak places, and trendy ones since i'm in going out mode. for steak i like CUT, STK, strip house, SW steak. craftsteak was okay too. for sushi blue ribbon is probably my favorite, and is in a great location.

as far as joel robuchon, i've never been to the main one, but L'Atelier was really good and won't break the bank nearly as much.

Milos is great for greek and something different.

B&B ristorante in the venetian was good, but overpriced.

for something kinda cool, try sterling brunch at bally's on sunday.

That happened the day after we talked about it. It was hot! Had dinner at carbone, then checked out the night views from the cosmo suite, and finished the night off with tiesto at hakkasan. So much fun!

I took that pic myself, not flame. I caught the last of the fountains before they got turned off for the night too, it was magical.

Strictly talking about the food I prefer Guy Savoy over Robuchon

But Guy Savoy has minimalist decor and ambiance so if you prefer an intimate/romantic setting then Robuchon is better

Wait, so Vegas is essentially just a bunch of restaurants that they have in New York? Why not just go to New York unless you live in LA and can drive to Vegas easily.

its the B side of nyc restaurants. food isnt nearly as good. wait staff are meth addicts. it isnt hard to get a reservation. the clientele are hillbillies who hit a jackpot.

you also get told how to eat, which is funny as fuck. "you're supposed to eat this with a spoon" or "you are allowed to pick this up with your fingers"

Oh, Christ.

I know Vegas has the gambling and the shows and it's an easy self-contained playground which makes stuff like March Madness and bachelor parties a lot of fun, but assuming you just want a regular city experience, it sounds horrible.

Did anyone read OP? He said $200 and wasn't even clear if that was PP. even if he actually meant $400 you ain't getting out of Robuchon that cheap. Or the Andres spot, even if you're a teetotaling bowlcut autist.

Look at Bouchon. Get a big fucking seafood tower, a side of fries, and a bottle of bubbles. Rao's would also be fun. Lotus of Siam is still tasty even if it isn't the rarity it once was.

You should try and get to Holsteins. It's a damn good burger

Bouchon is a great place for brunch, for sure. I've never had dinner at the one in Vegas, but did at the one in Napa and it was good.

Not really a fine dining type atmosphere, but more like a Balthazar or other upscale bistro.

Bottle of Champagne and fries there would be awesome. Depends on the chick, tho, and her expectations.
