was revolutionary at the time but now stuff like all the fetch quests and having to use a walkthrough makes it kind of a pain in the ass

I've tried playing it several times over the years and found it boring as fuck. The combat is garbage and the quests and puzzles were tedious.

I remember playing it when I was 18 or so and thinking, this may be the best game ever made. I haven't played it since though but I find it hard to believe it aged that poorly.

I would argue that as you get older you also get impatient with side quests/gimmicks. So it might not be so much that the game aged a certain way as YOU did.

I don't know, there are plenty of olds grinding out levels on shit like WoW. Something like Zelda is kind of different and probably could benefit from some streamlining though. No real need for grinding in a game like that.

It was revolutionary and its core mechanics have been widely adopted (and improved upon), so yeah its bound to be a bit hum drum in retrospect.

the child part of the game is a little slow, but once you hit the adult part, the game hits it's stride quite nicely—just well-crafted dungeon after well-crafted dungeon (level design is truly a lost art in today's day and age such that a decent game like OoT looks downright amazing in comparison).

played the master quest about a year ago and it held up reasonably well.

Loved OOT. Probably one of my top three games of all time
