Hate my job (career?), and considering changing law firms under the pretense (hope?) that so doing will transform how I feel about my job. Is this just wishful thinking bullshit or has anyone had this happen?

Considering also just, ya know, bailing entirely and running a taco stand.

yes, but I also was able to completely change practice areas from D-side lit in one area to P-side lit in completely different area. the practice is more interesting, the people I work with are more chill, less make-work bill-padding shit, etc. money not much worse and there is higher longterm upside. I went from depressed and hating getting up in the morning, to feeling pretty chill and content with my life. ymmv.

IF you work with assholes then it can definitely get better if you find a place with nice people. It makes the day-to-day completely better. But it won't make law suddenly a fulfilling occupation. It sucks.
