Without Bing, Google would have a total monopoly in search, and without Hotmail they'd dominate email as well. Without Zune, iPod would have had a total monopoly. Without XBox, Sony would dominate the gaming market. Microsoft also has inferior but serviceable forays into tablets and and mobile. It's like their entire purpose is provide the latent threat of replacement that keeps tech companies from being completely evil. It's not for novice users though. however many of the shortcomings are due to the limited environment. If google offered maps and a hangouts client it would be much more accessible. Tiles are nice though. Skype is good. Most disappointing I expected better office integration. I think the office of android is actually better, same with biz skype.
Bing is not nearly as good for search (outside of porn and images). |
