Guy shot a 74 from the tips on a US Open track.

As far as I could tell, he only mishit the ball once. Just pured it in the middle of a very small blade clubface every time. The ball just looked like it came out of a cannon every time, just floating on a rope, and even his 3-wood he could land softly from 250.

So jelly. Otherwise, just a totally normal dude. But his hand eye coordination is ridiculous.

Playing golf like this is probably the best thing I could wish for.

It's more muscle memory than hand-eye.

But I know what you mean - I get MAF after about 9 holes.

well, no amount of practicing would ever get me close to it, so whatever it is, it is impressive.

Same brother. Just play for the experience and fun. I'll never play enough to be considered even decent.

Nah, I still play to get better, but just could never dream of that. My goal is to get back to a 7 handicap, which was my apex 10+ years ago. Currently a 13.

Interesting...Ive always thought it is remarkably underwhelming to watch really good, but not professional level, guys play.

They just never mess up, which is sort of impressive in an abstract way, but its not like they ever do anything totally amazing. Idk.

I agree with this. I played with a guy who shot at 69 at a reasonably tough municipal course. He didn't wow me. Just was steady and didn't make any mistakes. Didn't even realize he was putting up a red number until I thought about it after the first 5 to 7 holes.

It's weird watching pros play in real life. The sound at impact, trajectory etc is just completely different from what you hear/see from pretty much anyone else you've ever seen play. It's like they're playing a different sport.

the pros are playing a different game from this guy. The top pros carry the ball 350, which doesn't even make real sense to me.

I'm an ok golfer. Probably around a 5-6 if I carried an index and the difference between my game (drive it about 280, hit most greens if I'm in the fairway, mediocre short game, and a couple of ridiculously bad shots a round (hooks off the planet or the occasional hosel rocket) and a real player is astounding.

I hadn't played with a real golfer in a bit until I was paired with this 50-something lawyer this weekend. Guy was so smooth. Ball exploded off the face like a rocket. And his misses were the equivalent of my good shots (like left or right side of the fairway instead of dead center). On the toughest hole on the course I bust a beautiful draw down the center of the fairway, around 290, and leave myself a 6 iron in. Then he steps up and puts it by me by 10 yards. Then I hit a solid iron approach from 180 and leave myself 25 feet for birdie. He smoothly knocks his to 12 feet. Made me realize that I can't touch these guys even on my best days. I think he was -3 when I quit after 11.
