21:09

This was a minute slower than my best time 4 years ago, but 3 minutes better than my embarrassingly lazy time last year.

Did not train much, ran on my treadmill over the past week and a half a little.

I did once again win the 200+ and over weight class. 12th place overall and third in the 30-39 age range.

I think my hopes of running a 5K under 20 minutes and bench pressing 315 ever again are gone. Maybe I can bench 300+ again if I work at it.

If you haven't tried it yet, train with the map my run app and set the pace reminders at 400 yards. It will basically ding you constantly and you'll know when you fall off pace even over a pretty short distance. Helped me get my time way down.

21 is a good time though. I bet that puts you in the top 5% of runners.

It's just a 5K - even if you are beat to shit after running 15 minutes, hey you are almost done. Just see it through.

The aversion to discomfort is the biggest problem with lazy people nowadays. No shit exercising is not pleasant and difficult.

set goals for yourself and make sure you push yourself each time you exercise. realize that the pain makes you better and you will feel good about overcomming the pain, rather than focusing on it and how easy it would be to stop.

When there is never a question that you would consider stopping, then you are dealing with the pain rather than letting it control you.

Running a mile isn't very far either, but if you run it under 6 minutes that requires you to challenge yourself and build up to it.

I was in first grade. I moved on from jogging after that.

edit: not true. I also won my grades mile run in third grade with a time of 6:42. I still think I'll ignore adult "men" talking about their 5:55 mile times. thank.

ha, well if I knew I was racing an xo pumo that might change my training (i.e. I might train).

Was your 5 mile run pretty flat? We had a moderately annoying hill and the entire race was there and back, so we had three 180 degree turn around which probably knock 3-5 seconds off your time each.
