Any thoughts on how to best approach these interviews with only firm experience?

Find out what the GC did and make your resume look as exactly like his as possible. This is why Linkedin is 180.

They want to know you are familiar with process bureaucratic shit, so anything you can do to play up that. Maybe so you worked closely with inhouse bros before, etc.

Just say you were in house previously. Once you get in the door for the interview these fucks won't even look at your resume. They hire based on feeling (the feeling usually being whatever the hottest girl interviewing provides)

Don't lie. Find a small client that has no internal legal or only one or two lawyers. Work with that client; you'll get a sense of the reason why this requirement exists and be more prepared. Pro tip: It has to do with solving problems rather than spotting issues, and a willingness to (within reason) guide the company with respect to areas of the law in which you aren't an expert. In most cases common sense + five to ten years of firm experience will yield or teach you how to find the correct answer. In extreme or unique cases, you will know who to call.
