I don't think it works for professionals. First, a lot of us are smarter than our therapists. Then, if the problem is too intense, you can't really come out with your feelings about it or you could be at risk of being committed, for being a possible threat to yourself or someone else. Good luck taking time off work for your involuntary commitment. And good luck with getting hired again as a former nut job. So you don't talk everything out in therapy out of an abundance of caution, and the therapist misdiagnoses you and thus, you get no real help. It's a shit show.

Not flame, if they take you seriously they can commit you. I am struggling with something that runs way deeper than I feel like I can confess, and I never get to the bottom of it in therapy as a result.
