That's something that I just can't wrap my head around. Outside of mental defects, there's nothing more socially isolating than being unable to hear. It makes communication beyond the most basic level nearly impossible. I'm sure that there's a sense of community and identity shared by the deaf, but I'll never understand why parents of deaf children would want to see their children remain so thoroughly isolated when a treatment exists. It's just so goddamn selfish. |

i'm sure doctors think they're doing just as good of a job, and that when stuff gets missed, to the extent it's ever discovered and even communicated back to the doctor who missed it, are very good at telling themselves that nobody could have done better at the time. you see this sort of thinking all the time among all sorts of professionals. |

But if there is some correlation between fat people not getting diagnosed for blood clots (or whatever) correctly, it has to do with medical training, not the media. The issue in medical training is probably due to the fact that fat people are generally much sicker than non-fat people solely as a result of being fat, so there is a lot more "noise" to deal with that makes it more difficult to diagnose serious underlying conditions which require advanced treatments / intervention (which, more often than not, are also related to them being fat). |

Instead, it celebrates capitalist hellish war-loving overlords like HRC and Sandberg and Mayer and promotes their SEX--yes, I said it, SEX, they are WOMEN WITH VAGINAS--over all else, because it is ultimately, like all movements, not pure. Instead, promoting something pragmatic/utilitarian over all else: promote WOMEN, promote WOMEN, promote WOMEN.
It comes at the expense of men. And you can have a healthy argument about the merits of that. But there is a Grand Canyon in between the supposed normative ideals of the feminist mindset and then the way it is employed in a political movement IRL.
