Also, women are more emotionally expressive (stereotypically), but anger is an emotion that is more tolerated in men than in women. Hence when we see an angry woman, we notice and remember it more since women get punished more for expressing anger.
Whenever someone blows up at a service professional, I think of that scene with Steve Martin in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Not a woman in her 40s. |

It is most certainly not true today and hasn't been for atleast 2-3 decades now. Several decades of MSM pushing the narrative that women can be just as tough/gritty/persistent/competitive as men has made a difference.
Anger in men and anger in women is different though. Men when insulted or slighted are more likely to have an extreme response. That is, they will either not respond and suck it up. Or they will shoot/stab you. Women tend to lash out verbally or with a limited physical response. That is the modal response. So when you see a fight near the checkout register, that is what you are most likely to see. |

Even if this is true, I don't think that MEN'S attitudes toward female anger have changed all that much since the 1950s. Even if women feel more "empowered" to act more masculine, or if men expect anger from women more, that doesn't mean that the men of 2016 accept female anger any more than the men of 1950 accepted it.
This thread is a perfect example. If a white male was rude to a service professional, would a thread have been made about him?
Would responses to that thread include "LOL at white middle-aged men" alongside with "wow, what an asshole" (i.e. general, nongendered criticism of the behavior)?
XO loves to start threads featuring anecdotal examples that prove parts of its general worldview, in this case the idea that white women in their 40s are bitter and angry because they no longer have sexual value and are on a ton of meds. |
