Stopped at entire course of human history. Fatherhood as a concept is maybe 30k years old at the most. It wasn't until animal husbandry that people put two and two together. Primitive tribes encountered in the 1950s still didn't understand paternity. For most of human history your maternal uncles would have been the male figure in your life.
